Currently there’s 1000s of DApps in development, some of them DApp projects in the works and many Live Dapps!
Decentralized Apps, otherwise known as DApps offer far-reaching potential for fair, automated, secure and trustless software and applications to operate in a P2P manner without having to rely on a 3rd party ‘middle-man’ (like eBay or Uber) to function and transact.
Ethereum was the first Blockchain to implement Smart Contracts and DApps and is presently the most prominent platform for DApps. There is a thorough dynamic list of virtually every known Ethereum DApp including basic info, such as description, development status, social media profiles and website URL link on Ethercasts.
Here’s Five examples of transformative DApps that I’m personally really excited about…
Similar to AirTasker or Freelancer but taking less of your hard earned! Ethlance is a decentralized freelancer platform for the exchange of work for Ether, rather than traditional currencies.
Swarm City is a decentralized P2P sharing economy.
Some have called it Uber or Craigslist on the blockchain. It requires users to have a Swarm City Token in order to pay for transactions in the ecosystem.
For more details see our post What is Swarm City?
FirstBlood is bringing Decentralized blockchain technology to the rapidly growing & exciting market of Esports and I’m sure many millions of gamers around the world love to have a chance to be a pro gamer and actually make a loving from ‘playing’ not ‘blogging’. It’s like Pokerstars for gamers, well highly skilled players to monetize their time or just plain gambly gamers.
The Esport industry is predicted by many to see rapid growth over the next few years and beyond.
Bitshares is basically the original Decentralized Exchange (DEX) built on a blockchain and operates as a true DAO providing decentralised Blockchain banking & financial services such as a trading platform that can do the volume of the NASDAQ but in a truly decentralized P2P manner. If cryptocurrencies continue to see centralized exchange hacks and governments ramp up regulatory attacks, which is very likely in many parts of the world, the growth of Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs) seems similarly very likely. What is a Decentralized Exchange?
The Bitshares utility token (BTS) has multiple functions on its DEX platform. For instance, it is used to pay exchange trading fees and purchase financial services (eg. loans, futures and gold, silver & fiat-pegged tokens). Much like like Bitcoin, Bitshares has been designed as a limited supply deflationary currency governed by the community.
Like all great Blockchain projects Bitshares is open-source so by design it will never have a complete monopoly of the DEX space but is likely to remain one of the most respected and utilized Decentralized Exchanges in the world. Many more DEXs will continue to be built on this open-source blockchain technology and will co-exist going forward in the growing decentralized financial services ecosystem.
Aragon is a project we’ve been covering for some time now, for good reason… the team have ambitious yet inspiring goals.
“We believe decentralized organizations (DAOs) can solve the world’s worst problems”
The DApp the team are buiding aims to disintermediate the creation and maintenance of organizational structures by using blockchain technology. Anybody will be able to use the Aragon DApp to create their own Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), effectively creating a borderless business or collective using token economics on the Ethereum blockchain. The Aragon team are extremely transparent, they often live stream and publish many of their internal developer meetings and actively engage with their community. Aragon set a great example of how a successful DAO with a globally distributed team can operate. “We want to empower people across the world to easily and securely manage their organizations. We provide the tools for anyone to become an entrepreneur and run their own organization, to take control of their own lives…
by making it possible for everyone in the world to organize, we are enabling a borderless, permissionless and more efficient creation of value.”

I noticed that the COAKT project was inactive and likely dead so removed that project from this list and added the Aragon DApp.
