Exodus Wallet Review : Introduction

Exodus is an easy-to-use multi-cryptocurrency wallet that is as pretty as it is functional. You can keep a range of cryptos including; Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Golem, Dash and even Dogecoin all in one gorgeous wallet. Exodus features calculations of your portfolio on transactions in your local currency on the fly. You can view a visually stunning pie chart of your portfolio at any time. Exodus has a built-in exchange (via Shapeshift integration) that allows for fast & simple trades between coins it supports. A helpful backup wizard makes it straight forward to keep your coins secure.

Backing Up Your Wallet is Simple

Exodus has a simple built-in backup process, which presents you with your 12-word passphrase needed to recover all of your assets should anything go wrong. Exodus allows you to print this out or write it down for safe keeping. We recommend writing it down and making multiple copies kept at more than one location! Just make sure you hide them well and that nobody will come across your secret words.

The Exodus team have written a blog post explaining what you should and shouldn’t do to protect your 12-word phrase:

We have a complete tutorial movie on how to properly create and store your backup in Exodus. This demo uses a Mac. Windows and Linux will work exactly the same after your initial install.

Exodus Wallet’s Key Features

We reviewed the Exodus wallet and took note of the following features…

Exodus encrypts private keys and transaction data locally for your eyes only. Your data remains private – no account setup required.

Track the value of your blockchain asset portfolio, in real time, as market conditions change.

Like darker themes? How about a subtle space background? Exodus gives you a personal look with everything from traditional gray to patterns or customized themes.

The wallet provides a built-in exchange, which allows for instant trading between many supported currencies via the Shapeshift API. By integrating ShapeShift directly into the app, Exodus Wallet users can convert their cryptocoins into other currencies with the push of a button and without having to open a web browser or any additional program.

The Exodus Wallet’s elegantly crafted User Interface (UI) is a pleasure to use and is thanks to its chief creative officer (CCO), Daniel Castagnoli. Daniel has designed digital experiences for companies including Apple, Disney and Nike, and has continued adding polish, simplicity and functionality to Exodus making the experience a share-worthy one.

The Crypto space really needs awesome wallet projects and other onboarding experiences that are an absolute pleasure to use in every way, and Exodus does a fine job at this. The exceptionally polished art, layout and navigation all contribute to one of the best wallet experiences in the space, add in top notch security, trusty open source code and growing functionality, it’s indeed a great wallet to recommend to noobs and intermediate crypto users alike.

Our review of the Exodus Wallet has led us to believe it’s a cryptocurrency app for just about everyone, not just the hardcore tech geek.

All three computer versions (Mac, Windows and Linux) of Exodus Wallet are updated on a very regular basis with fixes, new features, and support for additional Cryptocoins. The Exodus team are also working on iPhone and Android versions to be released in the near future. We will continue to update this post in the near future and going forward.

Superb UI & Support
An easy-to-use and elegant wallet for beginners to Cryptocurrency. Exodus is a closed-source project so it is not recommended to use the wallet for any substantial amount of funds, in that case an open-source hardware (or cold storage) wallet is a must.
